Freedom isn't FREE!

Our first President George Washington once said, "If we desire peace it must be known at all times that we are ready for war." Since 1776 no generation of Americans has been spared the responsibility of defending freedom through armed conflict with the forces of tyranny and oppression. More than 40 million men and women have put on the uniform of a United States soldier, sailor, Marine, Coast Guardsman, or pilot. Of these, more than ONE MILLION paid the price of freedom with their lives.

As you begin your tour on the ground floor of the Hall of Heroes, you are going to meet many exciting and inspirational people from our past. The walls circling this floor are covered with brass panels bearing the names of America's Medal of Honor recipients from inception of the award in 1862 to present. Facing the "Wall of Honor" are 3-D exhibits featuring artifacts and stories from our major conflicts and wars.

At the center of the floor is our "Birth of a Nation" exhibit, the starting point for most tour groups. Here you will learn how our Nation began, re-live its growth and development in its first century of existence, and more. The five triangular islands that complete the Medal of Honor design are dedicated to the five branches of military service and the many men and women who have made our freedom possible.

Don't worry about all those offices in the back. They are designed to provide rental-income once the actual building has been finished. It is our hope that such use of space will help us to keep admission to the real "Hall of Heroes" in Pueblo as free as it is here on the web.
