9 Medals of Honor are Accredited to Idaho

  • During the Indian Campaigns of the West, 8 Medals of Honor were awarded for heroic actions "on the ground" in Idaho.

  • TWO incredible pilots hail from the State of Idaho.  The legendary World War II Ace of Baa Baa Black Sheep fame Gregory "Pappy" Boyington was born in Coeur D'Alene.  In Vietnam, Kuna's BERNARD FISHER became the FIRST airman of that war to receive the Medal of Honor and the first man in history to be awarded the Air Force's uniquely designed medal.

"For Conspicuous Gallantry and Intrepidity in Action At the Risk of Life Above and Beyond the Call of Duty"
