SILENT CADENCE

The quiet souls are marching
     to a silent cadence now,
Dressed, medaled and beribboned
     they're proud to show us how -

It's hard to march in step, you know,
     when the cadence call is mute.
I never forget what I can't see -
     so I give a sad salute.

To the silent souls still on parade
     in a long, straight, quiet row;
on a parade ground full of wildflowers
     where Peace and Honor grow.
