Airman's Medal

The Airman's Medal is a medal of the United States Air Force that is awarded to any airman who, while serving in any capacity with the Air Force, distinguishes himself or herself by heroism not involving actual conflict with an enemy.

Established in 1960, the Airman's Medal holds the same level of prominence as the Army Soldier's Medal and the Navy and Marine Corps Medal.  It is awarded for heroic actions in a non-combat situation or setting.
