Joint Service Achievement Medal

(All Services)

For meritorious achievement or service while assigned to a joint activity after 3 August 1983.

Subsequent to the establishment of achievement medals for each of the individual branches of military service, in 1983 the Secretary of Defense established the Joint Service Achievement Medal for either outstanding achievement or meritorious service in joint activities.  The new medal took precedence over the achievement medals of the individual branches of service.
