The Medal for Humane Action is a military award of the United States Armed Forces which was created on August 20, 1949, by President Harry S. Truman. The medal is awarded to any member of the Armed Forces of the United States or any civilian national of the United States who, while serving in any capacity with the Armed Forces of the United States, distinguished himself or herself by meritorious participation in specified humanitarian activities.
