The World War II Victory Medal was a medal awarded to any member of the United States military who served between December 7, 1941, and December 31, 1946. The medal was first created in 1945 and was awarded to both military personnel and civilians who contributed to the war effort. The medal is a circular bronze medal with a profile of Dwight D. Eisenhower on the obverse and a depiction of Victory holding a sword and palm branch on the reverse. The medal was designed by James Earle Fraser.
