The Marine Corps Expeditionary Medal is a medal awarded to Marines who have participated in a designated expeditionary operation. The medal was first created in 1921 and is still awarded today. To be eligible for the medal, Marines must have participated in a combat operation or served in a designated area for 30 days or more. The medal is considered to be one of the highest honors that a Marine can receive.
