U.S. Army
The President of the United States takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star Medal to Bernard F. Rogers (31253636), Private, U.S. Army, for gallantry in action while serving in action in the vicinity of Colleville-sur-Mer, Normandy, France, 6 June 1944. Although painfully wounded while approaching the beach, Private Rogers refused medical attention and, by carrying vitally needed communications equipment across wide areas of exposed terrain, lent valuable assistance in the establishment of a command post. Private Rogers’ courage and devotion to duty reflect highest credit on the Service.
