Silver Star
World War II
U.S. Army
The President of the United States takes pride in presenting the Silver Star Medal to Colonel Warren A. Robinson, 15292, Infantry, 314th Infantry, United States Army, for gallantry in action as Regimental Commander in France from 19 June 1944 to 27 June 1944. Completely disregarding his own personal safety Colonel Robinson remained in forward areas and personally directed the operations which culminated in the success of his regiment in storming strong defensive positions at Fort du Roule and Cherbourg. His personal contact with the troops was maintained in the face of severe enemy fire and he repeatedly exposed himself to this enemy fire in order to keep in personal contact with his battalion commanders. His presence in forward observation posts while those around him were becoming casualties imparted confidence to his officers and men. By his courageous direction, intrepid leadership and outstanding professional ability Colonel Robinson set an inspiring example for his command reflecting the highest traditions of the armed forces.
