The Distinguished Service Cross is presented to Anthony C. Bills, Corporal, U.S. Army, for extraordinary heroism in action near Cantigny, France, May 28 – 31, 1918. Corporal Bills voluntarily and constantly was exposed to shell fire to repair important telephone lines. During the performance of this work he lost an arm and was otherwise seriously injured.
