The Distinguished Service Cross is presented to William J. Bohan, Sergeant, U.S. Army, for extraordinary heroism in action near Mezy, France, July 15, 1918. During the intense enemy artillery preparation prior to the German offensive of July 15, Sergeant Bohan voluntarily left the shelter of a trench to aid a wounded comrade to a place of safety.
