General Orders No. 37, W.D., 1919
The Distinguished Service Cross is presented to Dalton E. Brady, Captain, U.S. Army, for extraordinary heroism in action near Cunel, France, October 14, 1918. In the face of heavy machine-gun and shell fire Captain Brady left a sheltered position to go to the rescue of First Sergeant Kenneth Romaine, who was lying wounded some distance away in a shell hole upon which the enemy was directing a heavy machine-gun fire. With utter disregard for his own personal safety, he carried the wounded sergeant through the terrific machine-gun and shell fire to a place of safety.
