The Distinguished Service Cross is presented to Eldon Breeden, First Lieutenant, U.S. Army, for extraordinary heroism in action near Fey-en-Haye, France, September 12, 1918. Though he had been wounded in the side by a machine-gun bullet, Lieutenant Breeden refused medical aid until he had led his platoon to its objective.
