The Distinguished Service Cross is presented to Charles Britt, Corporal, U.S. Army, for extraordinary heroism in action near Remilly, France, November 10, 1918. While accompanying a patrol, Corporal Britt swam the Mouse River to repair a footbridge. His exploit was accomplished under most severe fire of enemy machine guns and artillery, but his act enabled the patrol to cross the river and return with information of the utmost value.
