Francis J. Brown

The Distinguished Service Cross is presented to Francis J. Brown, Sergeant, U.S. Army, for extraordinary heroism in action near Chateau-Thierry, France, July 14 – 15, 1918. Sergeant Brown kept in repair the telephone lines, which were constantly being broken by the heavy shelling, remaining at this hazardous task until killed by an enemy shell.
