The Distinguished Service Cross is presented to Claude Bryan, Corporal, U.S. Army, for extraordinary heroism in action near Preny Ridge, France, November 10, 1918. After being wounded in the foot by a machine-gun bullet, Corporal Bryan refused to go to the rear when ordered to do so, but remained with the company until the whole line was relieved.
