General Orders No. 35, W.D., 1919
The Distinguished Service Cross is presented to Arthur D. Budd, Lieutenant Colonel, U.S. Army, for extraordinary heroism in action near Grand Pre, France, October 28, 1918. After our troops had established a neat line and before the position had been consolidated, the enemy put down an extraordinary heavy barrage on the position. Col. Budd went through this barrage from one end of the line to the other to prepare for the expected counterattack before returning to his post of command.
