The Distinguished Service Cross is presented to Thurman Lowe, Sergeant, U.S. Army, for extraordinary heroism in action near Munster, Alsace, September 12 – 13, 1918. In repulsing a raid on our trenches, Sergeant Lowe seized an automatic rifle and pursued the Germans across “No Mans Land,” in the face of converging fire of several enemy machine-guns.
