The President of the United States of America, in the name of Congress, takes pleasure in presenting the Medal of Honor to Captain James Seaman Casey, United States Army, for extraordinary heroism on 8 January 1877, while serving with 5th U.S. Infantry, in action at Wolf Mountain, Montana. Captain Casey led his command in a successful charge against superior numbers of the enemy strongly posted.
