Ray J. Matchitt

The President of the United States takes pride in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross (Posthumously) to Ray J. Matchitt (14025950), Private, U.S. Army Air Forces, for extraordinary heroism in connection with military operations against an armed enemy while in the Far East Ferry Command, in action against enemy forces on 19 February 1942, in the Southwest Pacific Area. Private Matchitt’s unquestionable valor in aerial combat is in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflects great credit upon himself and the United States Army Air Forces.
