Charlton E. Battle

The Navy Cross is awarded to Lieutenant Commander Charlton E. Battle, U.S. Navy, for distinguished service in the line of his profession as executive officer of the U.S. Naval Air Station at Pauillac, France, for the efficient organization and handling of the forces engaged in fighting a dangerous fire on the Portuguese ship Paniche on November 11, 1918.
