Alfred Gardner

The Navy Cross is awarded to Lieutenant (j.g.) Alfred Gardner, U.S. Navy (Reserve Forces), for distinguished service in the line of his profession as commanding officer of a dirigible engaged in patrol and convoy flights, in the war zone, in which operations his did exceptional work, pushing his flights to the limits of physical and material endurance and upon one occasion broke all records for length of flight for her type of ship.
