Joseph M. Greeley
The Navy Cross is awarded to Seaman Joseph M. Greeley, U.S. Navy, for exceptionally meritorious and distinguished service as a member of the crew of the U.S.S. McCall on September 9, 1918. The Canadian Pacific Ocean service passenger S.S. Missanabie was torpedoed twice by a German submarine. Seaman Greely, with other members of the crew rescued the survivors of the Missanabie at imminent risk of life and for this heroic duty should be considered as having performed distinguished service in the line of duty.
