Clarence F. Leary

The Navy Cross is awarded to Lieutenant Clarence F. Leary, U.S. Navy, for extraordinary heroism on the occasion of a fire on the U.S.S. Charlton Hall on July 20, 1918, in entering the burning hold at the risk of his life in an attempt to save the ship.
