The President of the United States of America, in the name of Congress, takes pleasure in presenting the Medal of Honor to Captain Bernard Abert Byrne, United States Army, for most distinguished gallantry in rallying his men on the bridge after the line had been broken and pushed back, on 19 July 1899, while serving with 6th Cavalry, in action at Bobong, Negros, Philippine Islands.
