Francis M. Trives
The Distinguished Service Cross is presented to Francis M. Trives, Captain of Artillery, French Army, for extraordinary heroism in action near Haumont, France, November 2, 1918. Captain Trives volunteered to accompany a raiding party of the 28th Division. On reaching the German wire, the patrol became confused and disorganized. Realizing that the party was in great danger of being caught in a heavy barrage, Captain Trives quickly reorganized the patrol, working under heavy fire and continued to lead the raiding party until he was seriously wounded.
