Georges Wackernie
The Distinguished Service Cross is presented to Georges Wackernie, Lieutenant, French Army, for extraordinary heroism in action during the operations against the enemy at Chateau-Thierry, France, from May 31 to June 4, 1918. Lieutenant Wackernie constantly distinguished himself by his extraordinary heroism in voluntarily going through heavy machine-gun fire in order to secure and give important information which could not otherwise be communicated.
