The President of the United States of America, in the name of Congress, takes pleasure in presenting the Medal of Honor to Corporal John Morris, United States Marine Corps, for extraordinary heroism in leaping overboard from the U.S. Flagship Lancaster, at Villefranche, France, 25 December 1881, and rescuing from drowning Robert Blizzard, ordinary seaman, a prisoner, who had jumped overboard.
