  • The Distinguished Service Cross is presented to George F. Thompson, Private, U.S. Marine Corps, for conspicuous bravery in action while serving in the Retz Forest, France. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled: That the President is authorized to present, in the name of Congress, a Distinguished Service Cross to George F. Thompson, of the United States Marine Corps, for conspicuous bravery while serving as a private in the Marine Corps on the morning of July 18, 1918, at the forest of Retz.
