The President of the United States of America, in the name of Congress, takes pleasure in presenting the Medal of Honor to Private Erwin Jay Boydston, United States Marine Corps, for extraordinary heroism in action the presence of the enemy at Peking, China, 21 July to 17 August 1900. Under a heavy fire from the enemy during this period, Private Boydston assisted in the erection of barricades.
