The Distinguished Service Cross is presented to Frank A. Korman, Private, U.S. Marine Corps, for extraordinary heroism while serving with the 16th Company, 5th Regiment (Marines), 2d Division, A.E.F. in action near St. Etienne, France, October 4 – 6, 1918. When volunteers were called for to rescue another member of his company who was severely wounded, Private Korman responded and, in plain view of the enemy, carried his wounded comrade to shelter through heavy machine-gun fire.
