John William Thompson

The Distinguished Service Cross is presented to John William Thompson, Private, U.S. Marine Corps, for extraordinary heroism while serving with the 55th Company, 5th Regiment (Marines), 2d Division, A.E.F. in action near Blanc Mont Ridge, France, October 4, 1918. After locating a machine-gun nest, Private Thompson destroyed one of the guns and returned to our lines with valuable information concerning the location of the nest.
