William H. Baker

The President of the United States takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star Medal to William H. Baker (2036045), Sergeant, U.S. Marine Corps, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action while serving with Company G, 2d Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division (Rein.), FMF, in connection with combat operations against the enemy in the Republic of Vietnam on March 4, 1966. By his courage, aggressive fighting spirit and steadfast devotion to duty in the face of extreme personal danger, Sergeant Baker upheld the highest traditions of the Marine Corps and the United States Naval Service.

The President of the United States takes pride in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross (Posthumously) to William H. Baker (1327488), Second Lieutenant (Infantry), U.S. Army, for extraordinary heroism in connection with military operations against an armed enemy while serving with the FIFTH Army, in action against enemy forces on 5 & 6 March 1945. Second Lieutenant Baker’s intrepid actions, personal bravery and zealous devotion to duty at the cost of his life, exemplify the highest traditions of the military forces of the United States and reflect great credit upon himself, the FIFTH Army Corps, and the United States Army.
