The Distinguished Service Cross is presented to William H. Willmot, Gunnery Sergeant, U.S. Marine Corps, for extraordinary heroism while serving with the 47th Company, 5th Regiment (Marines), 2d Division, A.E.F. in action near Barricourt, France, November 1 – 2, 1918. Sergeant Wilmot established an outpost under heavy enemy fire and by cool leadership and unusual daring effected the capture of a hostile machine gun and five prisoners.
