Displaying notable bravery, Sergeant Kane single-handedly charged and captured an enemy machine gun, killing its crew.

Sergeant Kane reconnoitered the position of enemy machine-guns which were holding up the advance of his company across the Meuse. After he had located them, he alone silenced the fire of two guns, thus making possible the continuance of his company’s advance.
