The President of the United States of America, in the name of Congress, takes pleasure in presenting the Medal of Honor to Color Sergeant Conrad Homan, United States Army, for extraordinary heroism on 30 July 1864, while serving with Company A, 29th Massachusetts Infantry, in action at Petersburg, Virginia. Color Sergeant Homan fought his way through the enemy’s lines with the regimental colors, the rest of the color guard being killed or captured.
