    The President of the United States of America, in the name of Congress, takes pleasure in presenting the Medal of Honor to Sergeant John S. Darrough, United States Army, for extraordinary heroism on 10 October 1864, while serving with Company F, 113th Illinois Infantry, in action at Eastport, Mississippi. Sergeant Darrough saved the life of a captain.
