The President of the United States of America, in the name of Congress, takes pleasure in presenting the Medal of Honor to Corporal Edward Brown, Jr., United States Army, for extraordinary heroism on May 3 & 4, 1863, while serving with Company G, 62d New York Infantry, in action at Salem Heights, Fredericksburg, Virginia. Severely wounded while carrying the colors, Corporal Brown continued at his post, under fire, until ordered to the rear.
