The President of the United States of America, in the name of Congress, takes pleasure in presenting the Medal of Honor to Major & Quartermaster Horatio Collins King, United States Army, for extraordinary heroism on 31 March 1865, while serving with U.S. Volunteers, in action at Dinwiddie Courthouse, Virginia. While serving as a volunteer aide, Major King carried orders to the reserve brigade and participated with it in the charge which repulsed the enemy.
