    The President of the United States of America, in the name of Congress, takes pleasure in presenting the Medal of Honor to First Sergeant Rudolph Stauffer, United States Army, for gallant conduct during campaigns and engagements with Apaches, in the Arizona Territory near Camp Hualpai, during the winter of 1872 to 1873, while serving with Company K, 5th U.S. Cavalry.
