    The President of the United States of America, in the name of Congress, takes pleasure in presenting the Medal of Honor to Farrier William H. Jones, United States Army, for gallantry in the attack against hostile Sioux Indians on 7 May 1877 at Muddy Creek, Montana, and in the engagement with Nez Perce Indians at Camas Meadows, Idaho, on 20 August 1877 in which he sustained a painful knee wound, while serving with Company L, 2d U.S. Cavalry.
