The Distinguished Service Cross is presented to Robert H. Sillman, Sergeant, U.S. Army, for extraordinary heroism in action before Manila, Philippine Islands, August 13, 1898. Sergeant Sillman gallantly too part, until disabled by a Spanish bullet, in a charge on the enemy’s breastworks, volunteers having been called for by the brigadier general commanding.
