The U.S.S. Mayaguez Incident happened in May 1975. The Khmer Rouge seized the U.S. merchant ship SS Mayaguez near Cambodia. The United States launched a rescue mission right away. It deployed the Marines, Navy, and Air Force. U.S. forces stormed Koh Tang Island. They fought Khmer Rouge troops and launched airstrikes.
