The Distinguished Service Cross is presented to Albert B. Brookshire, Sergeant, U.S. Army, for extraordinary heroism in action near La Salle River, France, October 16 – 19, 1918. In addition to performing his duties as Gas non-commissioned officer, Sergeant Brookshire, on five occasions, volunteered and successfully delivered important messages, passing through intense enemy fire, from his company to the advanced positions in the front line.
