Alfred P. MC Peters
Silver Star
U.S. Army
World War II
The President of the United States takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star Medal to 1st Lieutenant Alfred P. MC Peters, 0352153, Infantry, 315th Infantry, United States Army, for gallantry in action in France. On 25 June 1944, near Hardinvast, the platoon led by Lieutenant MC Peters was subjected to heavy enemy machine gun fire and several enemy grenades. Struck in the face by a grenade fragment, Lieutenant MC Peters administered first aid to himself and remained at the head of his platoon until the enemy strong point had been neutralized. Although bleeding profusely, and obviously in great pain, he did not relinquish his post until a direct order from the company executive to do so. His inspired leadership and devotion to duty reflect highest credit on the military forces of the United States.
