Andre Hallier
The Distinguished Service Cross is presented to Andre Hallier, Lieutenant, French Army, for extraordinary heroism in action in the Bois-de-Beuge, France, October 3 – 4, 1918. After leading units of his battalion to their jumping off positions, Lieutenant Hallier went out with one enlisted man and established an observation post in advance of the outpost line. He maintained this position despite intense artillery and machine-gun fire, and sent back valuable information of the enemy, which was in a large measure responsible for the accuracy of our artillery fire. He displayed marked heroism and utter disregard for personal danger.
