The Distinguished Service Cross is presented to Arthur T. Brice, Jr., First Lieutenant, U.S. Army, for extraordinary heroism in action near Bois d’Aigremont, France, July 15, 1918. With a total disregard for his own danger, Lieutenant Brice went into the Bois d’Aigremont under a heavy artillery fire, and led scattered troops to the new line of resistance near Fossoy where they were successfully employed against the enemy’s advance. Later, he successfully led his company into Le Channel in the face of a heavy artillery and machine-gun fire, and cleared that town of the enemy.
