    The Distinguished Service Cross is presented to Charles F. Jordan, Private, U.S. Army, for extraordinary heroism in action near Bellicourt, France, September 29, 1918. Private Jordan repeatedly exposed himself to enemy fire to save his comrades, going forward in advance of our lines to attack machinegun nests. After reducing one enemy nest with rifle grenades, he proceeded to attack another, and, while so doing, was killed by enemy snipers.

    The President of the United States takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star Medal to Charles F. Jordan (2445603), Corporal, U.S. Marine Corps, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action while serving with Company F, 2d Battalion, 7th Marines, 1st Marine Division (Rein.), FMF, in connection with combat operations against the enemy in the Republic of Vietnam on March 12, 1969. By his courage, aggressive fighting spirit and steadfast devotion to duty in the face of extreme personal danger, Corporal Jordan upheld the highest traditions of the Marine Corps and the United States Naval Service.
