    The Distinguished Service Cross is presented to David P. Colvin, Second Lieutenant, U.S. Marine Corps, for extraordinary heroism while serving with the 18th Company, 5th Regiment (Marines), 2d Division, A.E.F. in action in the Bois-de-Belleau, France, June 13, 1918. With another soldier, Lieutenant Colvin advanced under the fire of an enemy machine gun, killed four of the crew and captured the gun.
